    We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Sector Lead to oversee advisory and technical services related to land management, practice change and beneficial reuse of recycled organics in agriculture and horticulture. Working with a team of experts you will expand our digital agriculture and land management services to drive sustainability land management and environmental performance.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Leading Verterra’s agriculture and agronomy services, with a focus on sustainable land management and practice change.

    • Providing practical agronomic advice to clients and internal sector leads to improve land management practices and the beneficial use of recycled organics and industrial ameliorants.

    • Overseeing soil and crop assessments, including sampling programs, nutrient budgets, application recommendations, land suitability assessments and compliance plans.

    • Supporting the safe and effective use of recycled organics, industrial by-products and other beneficial reuse materials in agricultural and horticultural systems to improve soil fertility, crop performance and long-term land productivity.

    • Identifying opportunities to support land management practice change that improve productivity, soil function, erosion control, water use efficiency, nutrient cycling and sustainability outcomes.

    • Expanding Verterra’s digital agriculture services, including the use of spatial data, field assessment and monitoring tools to support better farming, sustainability and land management decisions.

    • Building and maintaining strong relationships with landholders, agronomists, farming groups, processors, contractors, government agencies, industry stakeholders and sustainability partners.

    • Supporting business development by identifying client needs, developing service opportunities and helping grow Verterra’s agricultural advisory, sustainability and beneficial reuse offerings.

    • Working closely with project managers and technical specialists to ensure projects are delivered safely, practically, commercially and in line with relevant environmental, agricultural and compliance requirements.

    • Leading and supporting a multidisciplinary team across agronomy, soil science, recycled organics, industrial ameliorants, GIS, sustainability and environmental management.

    • Preparing clear technical reports, landholder advice, management plans, sustainability outcomes and client recommendations.

    About You:

    You will be someone who understands farming systems and is passionate about helping landholders improve soil health, productivity and sustainability outcomes.

    A strong practical understanding of agronomy, soil science, crop production, grazing practices and land management will be essential. You will also need to be comfortable working directly with farmers, contractors, technical specialists, industry partners and clients to turn good science into practical field outcomes.

    You will ideally bring:

    • A qualification in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Soil Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Forestry, or a related discipline.

    • Practical experience providing soil, crop, nutrient management, sustainability or agronomic advice.

    • A strong understanding of agricultural land management, sustainable farming systems, and soil health, pasture production and nutrient cycling.

    • Experience with recycled organics, soil amendments, biosolids, composts, manures, industrial ameliorants or other beneficial reuse products would be highly regarded.

    • An understanding of how land management practice change can improve productivity, soil function, environmental performance and long-term sustainability.

    • An appreciation of digital agriculture, spatial data, field mapping, monitoring tools or GIS and how these can support improved agronomic and sustainability decision-making.

    • Experience working with farmers, landholders, contractors, processors, government agencies, agricultural industry groups or industrial partners.

    • Strong field assessment, reporting, contractor management and stakeholder engagement skills.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information in a practical and accessible way.

    • A willingness to travel to field locations and work away when required.

  • Full-Time | Brisbane Based

    We are looking for a commercially minded Business Development Associate to help grow our presence across ecological restoration, nature-based solutions, and ecosystem services.

    This role would suit someone who enjoys building relationships, identifying opportunities, supporting proposals, and working closely with technical teams to help turn client needs into practical project opportunities.

    The successful candidate will work closely with Verterra’s Managing Director and General Manager, gaining exposure to executive decision-making, and building a pathway toward a senior leadership role.

    What You’ll Do

    Business Development & Growth

    • Help identify and pursue new business opportunities nationally and internationally in ecological engineering, natural capital and ecosystem services.‍ ‍

    • Build and manage relationships with clients, government agencies, industry partners, Indigenous organisations, and research institutions.

    • Represent Verterra at conferences, industry events, and stakeholder meetings.

    • Collaborate with the Managing Director, General Manager and Technical Teams on proposals, scoping documents, EOI responses, partnership proposals, tender responses and client communications.

    • Assist with development of frameworks, systems, and processes to improve efficiency in business development and strategic functions.

    Strategic Support

    • Provide direct support to the Managing Director in strategic planning, opportunity assessment, business models and organisational development.

    • Participate in high-level meetings, follow up actions, and ensure continuity across business initiatives.

    • Work closely with the Managing Director to develop an executive-level understanding of operations, innovation pathways, and corporate strategy.

    • Assist in the preparation of presentations, board papers, and strategic briefing documents.

    • Work with internal and external teams to develop marketing collateral and thought leadership content to help build Verterra’s brand presence in Ecological Engineering across priority sectors.

    • Degree in Environmental Science, Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Engineering, Business, Natural Resource Management, Sustainability, or related field.

    • Five to ten years' experience in business development, consulting, or environmental services (the right candidate matters more than years).

    • Strong networker with excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

    • Outstanding written communication comfortable drafting proposals, reports, and client communications.

    • Solid understanding of environmental management and the ability to translate technical concepts into business opportunities.

    About the Role

    The Product Codification Developer supports the development of Verterra’s digital tools, automation systems, and AI-enabled workflows and analytics.

    You will help build practical, scalable solutions that support environmental data analysis, project delivery, and new productised services.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    Software & Product Development

    • Assist in designing, building, testing, and improving internal tools and digital products. 

    • Develop software solutions using Python and other relevant languages.

    • Contribute to scalable systems supporting environmental data analysis and technical workflows.

    Automation, Data & AI

    Verterra is seeking a motivated Junior Business Support team member to join our growing ecological engineering business. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to build hands-on experience across business administration, CRM, account management, tender identification and management, project accounting, project controls, bid coordination, reporting and business systems.

    Working closely with the General Manager and broader operations team, you will support the business across administration, account management, tender identification and management, project controls, financial administration, AI integration, CRM maintenance and business reporting.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Support the use, maintenance and ongoing improvement of Verterra’s CRM system, including client records, account information, opportunities, leads and business development pipeline information.

    • Assist with account management support, including client follow-up, meeting notes, action tracking, account updates and coordination between clients, the General Manager and project teams.

    • Support tender identification and management by monitoring relevant tender portals, recording opportunities in the CRM, tracking deadlines, coordinating internal inputs and maintaining tender registers.

    • Assist with project accounting, including project setup, cost tracking, invoicing support, financial administration and margin reporting.

    • Support project controls, including project documentation, reporting, registers, workflows, risk records, compliance records, internal project performance tracking and reporting.

    • Assist with bid and tender management, including tender identification, opportunity tracking, document preparation, formatting, compliance checks, submission support and post-submission follow-up.

    • Support the ongoing development and improvement of financial control and reporting systems and processes across the business.

    • Assist with business system implementation, including setup, data management, workflow improvement and ongoing system maintenance.

    • Assist with embedding AI in these systems and streamlining workflows.

    • Support electronic document control, record-keeping and the development of practical systems and processes for business information management.

    • Provide general administrative support across operations, finance, reporting, risk management and business improvement activities.

    About You:

    You will ideally have:

    • Tertiary qualifications in business, accounting, commerce, administration or a related field.

    • One- or two-years working experience with strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

    • Good communication, organisation and follow-through skills.

    • A client-focused approach and interest in supporting account management, relationship tracking and follow-up processes.

    • An organised approach to identifying tenders, tracking deadlines, coordinating inputs and helping manage submissions from opportunity through to outcome.

    • An interest in AI adoption, CRM systems, account management, tender identification and management, project accounting, business controls and process improvement.

    • The ability to work as part of a team while taking initiative in a client-focused consulting and operational business.

    • An interest in environmental markets, sustainability, ecological engineering and responsible business.
