Meet Our Board & Executive Team

Marjon Wind
  • Marjon is a circular economy and business strategy specialist with more than 25 years’ experience across international banking, consulting and advisory. After a senior leadership career with Rabobank International in Europe and Asia, she transitioned into consulting, specialising in leadership, change management and circular economy strategy.

    Based in Brisbane since 2017, Marjon advises organisations and governments on transitioning from linear to circular business models to deliver economic, environmental and social value. She also serves as Honorary Consul for the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Queensland and is a Non-Executive Director of MiCare.

Dr Glenn Dale
  • Glenn combines deep technical expertise with operational and commercial experience in forestry, ecological engineering and biotechnology. His early career in tropical forest management led to doctoral research in molecular genetics and tree breeding, followed by postdoctoral work in plant genetics in the United States.

    Glenn returned to Australia as Technical Manager of a private forestry biotechnology company before founding Verterra (formerly Tree Crop Technologies) in 1999. Glenn also co-founded Saltgrow Pty Ltd with Yates Ltd to commercialise salt- and drought-tolerant eucalypt hybrids, earning national recognition for innovation in salinity and industry science.

    He works across a wide variety of sectors domestically and internationally, enabling him to bring an integrated, multidisciplinary perspective to new challenges in land rehabilitation and environmental management. Glenn contributes to research and industry development through industry committees and academic roles, with the USQ and QUT.  In 2024, Glenn was delighted to accept the National Telstra Best-of-Business Award in the category Embracing Innovation, where Verterra was singled out from a field of 22,000 applicants.

Susan Dale
  • Susan has managed Verterra’s financial operations since its establishment in 1999, bringing a strong foundation in analytical science, mathematics and governance.

    Her early career included work as an analytical chemist in toxicology and food commodities, followed by management of a soil science laboratory at North Carolina State University. She later taught secondary mathematics in Australia and the Solomon Islands, including serving as Head of Mathematics.

    Susan is also actively involved in managing the family cattle property, with hands-on experience in breeding, pasture management, weed control and erosion management. Her combined expertise in science, finance and agricultural operations provides a practical understanding of both the technical and commercial dimensions of the business.

Peter Schulze
  • Peter is Verterra’s General Manager, responsible for growing Verterra ecological engineering.

    With more than 25 years’ leadership experience across mining, manufacturing, and industrial sectors, Peter specialises in building high-performance operational frameworks that translate technical expertise into consistent, commercially viable solutions. He leads Verterra’s operational strategy, commercial governance, and delivery systems, ensuring the company’s Performance Ecosystem can reliably deliver measurable environmental outcomes for clients across multiple sectors.

Dr Bernhard Wehr
  • Bernhard is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist with over 20 years’ experience in soil science, land rehabilitation, and environmental management. He is Sector Lead for Mining & Energy and oversees delivery of Verterra’s ReVive Soil Solutions and contributes specialist knowledge to ReVert Landscape Rehabilitation projects.

    With a PhD in Soil Science and a background in biochemistry and horticulture, he brings deep expertise in managing soil constraints across mine sites and degraded landscapes to deliver resilient environmental outcomes for clients.

Laura McCallum
  • Laura is a Senior Environmental Scientist with over 15 years’ experience in applied environmental science. As Sector Lead for Water, Wastewater & Utilities, Laura leads delivery of our ReValue Water service.

    Laura is passionate about the beneficial use of waste, specialising in waste reuse feasibility - particularly biosolids and wastewater. She brings a strong mix of technical insight and practical implementation to deliver sustainable outcomes for clients.

Dave Waterson
  • Dave is a Land Rehabilitation Specialist with over 20 years of experience in erosion and sediment control, mine site rehabilitation, and degraded land management across the civil, mining, and natural resource sectors. He is Sector Lead for Rehabilitation and Land Management and plays a pivotal role in delivering gully and landscape rehabilitation, and land condition improvement projects under Verterra’s ReVert Landscape Rehabilitation service.

    Dave has a strong focus on reducing sediment loss to regional waterways, and recently became one of only four professionals in Australia to be accredited by Soil Science Australia as a Registered Soil Practitioner in Gully Erosion.

Andrew Yates
  • Andrew is a Senior Land Resource Specialist with over 30 years of experience in forestry, land management, and ecosystem services. At Verterra, he serves as Sector Lead for Ecosystem Markets, leads the ReValue Ecosystems solution suite, and works across DROVER Land Management, focusing on the development of environmental market opportunities that are aligned with agricultural productivity.

    He brings strategic expertise in project development and reforestation, from planning through to operational delivery, underpinned by early career experience in commercial timber production. Andrew specialises in integrating forestry systems with ecosystem service markets, including carbon and water quality credits, ensuring projects are commercially viable and aligned with relevant standards.

    His experience spans project design through to implementation, with a strong focus on linking land use outcomes to long-term environmental and financial value. He is a trusted advisor on nature-based solutions, including rehabilitation and landscape-scale restoration initiatives.

Mieke Elder
  • Mieke Elder is an agricultural specialist and project manager with over 15 years’ experience supporting regional industries across Australia. As Verterra’s Sector Lead for Agriculture Mieke oversees our ReValue Nutrients service and leads DROVER Land Management - our tailored agribusiness service. She manages large-scale biosolids beneficial reuse programs and leads agricultural water quality and land management initiatives through DROVER Land Management.

    Mieke combines strong project governance, stakeholder engagement, and agribusiness expertise to deliver compliant, practical solutions that support farm productivity and environmental outcomes.

Ben Silverwood
  • Ben Silverwood is a geospatial specialist and UAV operations lead with expertise in aerial monitoring, spatial data analysis, and mine rehabilitation. With a background in engineering, Ben is Sector Lead for Technical Services, applying UAV and satellite imagery with LiDAR data to model and assess rehabilitation performance, erosion risk, and groundcover establishment.
