Hydrology and Hydrogeology

Potential off-site impacts on land and water resources are a prime consideration in any irrigated or dryland project development.  Through our staff and associates, Verterra brings a highly skilled team in catchment modelling, hydrology, hydro-geological investigation and groundwater modelling, with particular experience in the mining, salinity, environmental impact and natural resource management sectors.  The outcomes of hydrologic and hydro-geological investigations are used to ensure risks to surface and groundwater resources and off-site land resources from altered water regimes or mobilisation of salts can be avoided.  The results are also used to inform appropriate locations for environmental monitoring.  We have experience in the following:

  • Groundwater
    • Stratigraphic analysis including porosity, permeability and inclination
    • Conceptual model development
    • Slug testing for permeability
    • Hydro-geological modelling
    • Assessment of groundwater flow and solute transfer pathways
    • Groundwater monitoring equipment design, installation and data analysis
  • Surface water
    • Discharge site analysis
    • Surface water flow analysis
    • Nutrient fate and pollutant export modelling
    • Hydrologic and catchment modelling
    • Salinity and erosion risk analysis
    • Surface water monitoring equipment design, installation and data analysis

At Verterra we understand the importance of Chain-of-Custody and Quality Assurance.  This is embedded in our AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008 certified quality assurance system.  This system includes specific Safe Work Practices and Work Instructions for all technical procedures such as water sampling.
